Every year, ARCAM offers two AiR’s a platform to deepen their research and to present it to a wider audience. The AiR before Thijs is Afaina de Jong.
Thijs will take a next step in his research A Voice for the Eel that started in 2020. Based on the question: how can we use our shared public space to enter into a dialogue with non-human urban dwellers, he will work on a living lab for experiment and dialogue in the Oosterdok.
Designing the underwater world as a public space is still in its infancy; a missed opportunity because there is a lot of potential for a healthy and diverse underwater ecology that benefits not only the eel, but the entire underwater community.
