In 2023, after four years of listening, the Embassy has entered its’ second phase of learning to speak. In the beginning of 2023, the first two ‘rights of nature cases’ in Europe (in Spain and England) are a fact, and the Dutch parliament is debating about legal personality of the Wadden area. We see it as our task to feed this debate with research, imagination and critical notes.
In this phase, it is important to practice the new ecological politics we imagine. In our speaking phase, we continue our research on representation by asking new questions about the different ways in which the North Sea can speak in the public, political and legal realm. Our research is conducted by using methodologies from different disciplines: art, science, policy and spatial planning. Below you can find an overview of a variety of research cases we have been working on since 2018.
